Hello! My name is Madeline Kaplan, and I’m the founder of The Whimsy Workshop and its counterpart, Whimsy Threads, where I curate collections of vintage clothing. I’m 32 years old, and proudly born and raised in Philadelphia. As a teenager, I spent many summers teaching arts and crafts to young children at various summer camps.

I graduated from Drexel University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design, specializing in children's clothing. While I briefly worked in the fashion industry, my true passion emerged in my interactions with children as a children's fashion designer. I later returned to school to study Early Chilhood Education.

For the past 9 years, I have been teaching children ages 3-5 in a classroom setting, and I am very passionate about nurturing creativity in young minds. Opening an arts and crafts studio for children has always been a dream of mine, and I’m thrilled to start to bring that dream to life through The Whimsy Workshop.

At The Whimsy Workshop, I bring the joy of handcrafting directly to your home, offering personalized lessons in sewing, knitting, weaving, and other creative techniques. I believe in the power of hands-on crafting to help children develop focus, patience, and confidence, while also providing them with a fun and creative outlet for their imagination. Each lesson is designed to encourage exploration and personal creativity, allowing children to express themselves through their work while building important life skills.

I currently live in the Fairmount area with my three-year-old husky mix, Kai. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, arts and crafts, thrifting, playing board games and doing puzzles, home improvement projects, filmmaking, and traveling. I look forward to working with you and your child!
