Hello! I’m Madeline Kaplan, founder of The Whimsy Workshop. I’m 32 and proudly born and raised in Philadelphia. I discovered my love for handcrafting at a young age, and as a teenager, I spent many summers teaching arts and crafts to children at summer camps—an experience that sparked my lifelong passion for creative teaching.

I graduated from Drexel University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design, specializing in children’s clothing. While I briefly worked in the fashion industry, my true passion revealed itself through my interactions with children as a children’s fashion designer. I later returned to school to study Early Childhood Education, where I found my calling in early learning.

For the past eight years, I’ve taught children ages 3 - 5 in a classroom setting and am deeply passionate about nurturing creativity in young minds. Opening an arts and crafts studio for children has always been a dream of mine, and I’m thrilled to bring that dream to life through The Whimsy Workshop.

At The Whimsy Workshop, I bring the joy of handcrafting directly to your home, offering personalized lessons in sewing, knitting, weaving, and other creative techniques. I believe in the power of hands-on crafting to help children build focus, patience, and confidence - all while providing a fun outlet for their imagination. Each lesson is designed to encourage exploration and self-expression, allowing children to develop important life skills through creativity.

I currently live in the Brewerytown area with my four-year-old husky mix, Kai. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, crafting, thrifting, playing board games and doing puzzles, tackling home improvement projects, filmmaking, and traveling.

I look forward to working with you and your child!
